Turn the Leaf

TURN THE LEAF

A single leaf, a dormant tree
As it slowly fades from vibrant green

The graying limb it hangs upon
Glistening bright in the dew drenched morn

A breeze yet warmed by morning sun
Swirls around as it comes undone

Surrendered all, loosely clutched
Releasing to the cooling touch

Turning with abandoned ease
Among the long forgotten trees

To find itself upon the ground
Where rotting leaves lay in mounds

Heaps of color transforming from
Beauty found in dying form

Surrounded by the breath of fall
Colors scatter the morning air

Touch the leaf intent to turn
Forever changed, never mourned

Return the leaf with no concern
Leave it there, forever yearn

A Moment In Time

A moment in time...
Long slipped away...
The feel of your lips...
On my lips will stay...

A moment in time...
When forever was new...
Like a night full of stars...
Every dream was of you...

A moment in time...
As sand in a glass...
Precious and few....
Too soon it did pass...

A moment in time...
Like a dirt road at night...
When the moon spread it's beauty...
Your arms held me tight...

A moment in time...
I will never forget...
Just a moment in time...
I would love to re-live...

My Heart's Song

My heart sings a special song, that time cannot take away

Regret cannot sour the notes

Cannot alter the words my heart longs to say

Forever the melody shall live in my soul

Along with the memories there

Of a love that I cherish, the one I adore

Of the hands that hold my heart near

When my eyes drift to sleep at the end of the day

And dreams take over my mind

I cannot help but sing the sweet song

That remind me of that sweet gentle time

Regardless of distance divided by space

The song remains in my heart

As soft and as tender and surprisingly strong

As was it was from the very start

My heart sings the song I sang in your arms

                                   Time cannot take it away

Teardrop Masquerade

My heart is weeping
Silent tears
They flow quietly
Into the night
Better they stay hidden
Remain ghostly, out of sight
I keep them closely guarded
I hold them in my soul
Occasionally I count them
The loss each teardrop holds
If I regret one tear
It's the one that slipped away
Before I could bottle it up
In my teardrop masquerade

Winter Frost

The winter wind chills the air, but nothing like your stare chills my heart
Where once there was warmth, now there is just a void of regret
Ice cold fingers wrap around my heart like a noose around a nape
Flakes of bitterness land on my lashes, turning to tears
Resolutions of the past haunt my dreams
The echo of my sorrow wakes me from the night
As the rhythm of a heart now wounded becomes melody of my day
The mystic illusion of my affection is surrounded by a barrier of grief
Yet in the naked misery of anguish I find a cavern of hope
That while the brokeness may linger and wholeness may allude
I'm overwhelmed with hunger for the fullness I find in you

His Healing Powers Infiltrate My Pores

Like oil from a vase on my head it was poured
It did cover my body from head to the floor
Like hot molten honey fresh from the flame
It infiltrated my being through pores, past the veins
Through the flesh and the fibers to bone it did reach
down to the morrow where sin was so deep
It penetrated my heart and covered my soul
It cleansed every sin my mind could behold
The healing power so strong and so quick
With a tongue like a fire my wounds it did lick
It cleansed me deep with the blood of the cross
All my past sins, to the depths of the seas they were tossed
A crown on my head was set with great care
To signify the sins I'd left there
And tho I'm not worthy to carry a crown
In me some value the King has now found
Judge me you might and my failure repeat
Tho I left them all there at his nail scarred feet
Through your eyes still, fault you may find
But to those, his vision now is blind
New failures I'm sure, I'm certain to make
But more grace from his throne I will thankfully take
And if you look at me through  human sight
I'm certain you'll find, more compromise
But when he looks at me with his eyes alone
It's His righteousness, not mine, in glory is shone.

A Part of Me

Like whitened frost on a window pane
Or the feel of a midnight breeze
The marbled glare of the summer's sun
A faint whisper of Fallen leaves
Certain things define a time
Precious within my mind
Memories I hold within my heart
Treasures not left behind
Red dirt roads when the moon is full
Early morning dew
Snapshots of every season
Offer not a clue
Tales that transcends meaning
Timeless the prison will be
Captured behind a veil of tears
Remains a part of me
